Sea Survival Training
I try to write my experience after taking the training on this blog. I took the training last week on 13 December 2006 at Jakarta Offshore Training Center. This was a very good experience to me to have Sea Survival Training and 3 years certification on it. Perhaps the most difficult survival situation to be in is sea survival. You will never predict what will happened to you. Short or long term survival depends upon rations, equipment available and ingenuity. I must be resourceful to survive. That’s what I think after taking the training. I could not go into detail explaining how to survive on the sea, but I will tell you a little bit.
As a survivor on the open sea, you will face waves and wind. You may also face extreme heat or cold. To keep these environmental hazards from becoming serious problems, take precautionary measures as soon as possible. Use the available resources to protect yourself from the elements and from heat or extreme cold and humidity.
Protecting your self from the elements meets only one of your basic needs. You must also be able to obtain water and food. Satisfying these three basic needs will help prevent serious physical and psychological problems.
After all, we don’t want these to happen while you are working. In fact, there are so many hazards on your working environment. Understanding the safety notice is a necessity. It is useful information necessary about the facility as well as the emergency procedures and equipments applicable. They are posted in various places and, it is vital to know and understand of the safety notices.
Finally, it is still all about safety. You put safety as a culture of work. If you don’t know the answer, then find why you need to know on safety. It could safe you and your families life.
